Aurelia Gold Edge for cTrader: gold breakouts with a prop-firm guard

Choose how you use it - a prop firm challenge, a funded account or your own account - and, for a firm, its programme and phase: the guard loads that programme's limits, the risk per trade is set from them, and the robot stops before any limit is reached. Two swing-breakout strategies trade gold on one chart and one account - one on 15-minute swings, one on 30-minute swings, both with a four-hour trend filter - each through a pending stop order with its stop loss and take profit, and everything is closed by Friday evening. Gold (XAUUSD) only, hedging accounts only, and no news filter.

cTrader's own backtester on IC Markets tick data from the server, XAUUSD, 100,000 USD, leverage 1:100, commission 27.5 USD per million, 2 January to 13 October 2026, the release build with its shipped defaults (Mode Prop challenge, a two-step programme's first phase, 1.5 % per trade). The target was reached on 28 January 2026; after that the robot opened nothing. Every figure is read from the run's own report file. The cTrader cBot runs on a Pepperstone demo account: $10,000 at the start, no deposits since, never reset. Preset: Own account mode at 0.35 % risk per trade, no firm rules (the listing's default, Prop challenge, stops for good at its profit target). 1 day of history is a start, not a verdict.

What it does

Aurelia Gold Edge trades gold (XAUUSD) and nothing else, with two swing-breakout strategies and a prop-firm guard built in. You choose how you use it - a prop firm challenge, a funded account or your own account - and, for a firm, its programme and phase; the guard loads that programme's limits, the risk per trade is set from them, and the robot stops before any limit is reached. Both strategies wait for a confirmed swing high or low and place a pending stop order at the opposite swing point when the price is within 1.5 ATR of it, so a trade opens only when the market breaks out. The first reads 15-minute swings and trades only in the direction of the four-hour trend (a 50-period EMA), from 07:00 to 20:00 UTC, at most twice a day: stop 4 ATR, target 12 ATR, a third of the position closed at 1 R. The second reads 30-minute swings with the slower four-hour trend (a 200-period EMA), at most once a day: stop 3 ATR, target 6 ATR, half of the position closed at 0.75 R. After a partial close the stop moves to the entry. Both trade only while volatility is in the upper half of its recent range. Every order carries its stop loss and take profit, the open positions of both strategies together never risk more than twice the risk per trade, and everything is closed on Friday at 20:00 UTC: no position is held over a weekend. There is no grid, no martingale and no averaging down.

Three modes

Prop challenge is the shipped default: the risk per trade is the room your programme leaves - its maximum loss - divided by six and rounded down to a fixed step between 0.25 and 3 %, which is 1.5 % on a 10 % maximum loss. When the profit target is reached, new entries stop: the phase is passed. Funded account trades the firm's funded rules at 0.35 % per trade. Own account applies no firm rules and trades 0.35 % per trade. Your own Risk per trade replaces the automatic risk in every mode, never above the firm's own per-trade limit. A handful of firm phases where the robot lost an account in its 2026 tests are not traded automatically: the robot stops at the start and says why. The two strategies are the same in every mode, and everything is inside the cBot: there is no file to download, find or import after the purchase.

The guard

On every price change the guard checks the whole account: the daily loss, measured the way the firm measures it and reset on the firm's own clock, the maximum loss (static or trailing), and the profit target with the minimum trading days. It stops before each limit by a buffer, refuses an entry whose full stop would no longer fit inside the room that is left, deletes both strategies' pending orders while it blocks, and says why on the chart panel and in the log. One guard covers both strategies. Its progress (the day's start, the trading days, a reached target) and each strategy's last traded swing are kept when cTrader restarts, per account and per programme phase, so a restart never trades the same swing twice.

The firm's rules and terms

The Prop firm rules list holds 39 programme profiles of the 9 firms whose published terms allow a purchased robot on cTrader, phase by phase, read on the firms' own pages. The 24 firms whose terms do not allow it are in the list too: choosing one stops the robot at start with the firm's own words. Any other firm, or a programme that changed, is set up in the Custom rules group. Where a phase has a firm news rule, the panel and the log say so, but the cBot has no news filter: it does not read the economic calendar, and pausing it around those releases is your task. A robot you buy takes the same trades for every buyer, and some firms flag identical trades across accounts as copy or group trading. Aurelia Gold Edge does not disguise its trades; read your firm's rules on this before you buy a challenge.

The published backtest

The figures at the top of this page are cTrader's own backtest report of the release build with its shipped defaults: Mode Prop challenge on a two-step programme's first phase (10 % profit target, 5 % daily loss, 10 % maximum loss), 1.5 % risk per trade. The run used cTrader's backtester on IC Markets tick data from the server, XAUUSD, 100,000 USD, leverage 1:100, commission 27.5 USD per million USD of volume, from 2 January 2026 to 13 October 2026. Every number is read from the run's own report file: net profit +10,156.69 USD, a return of 10.16 %, profit factor 3.18, 19 deals (a partial close counts as a deal of its own), a maximum balance drawdown of 2.10 % and a maximum equity drawdown of 4.07 %. The target was reached on 28 January 2026; after that the robot opened nothing, as a passed phase requires.

The same release in Own account mode, at 0.35 % per trade, over the same window on the same IC Markets tick data, 100,000 USD, leverage 1:100 and commission 27.5 USD per million USD of volume: net profit +10,941.83 USD, a return of 10.94 %, profit factor 1.88, 168 deals, a maximum balance drawdown of 3.01 % and a maximum equity drawdown of 3.50 %.

What it does not promise. Passing a challenge is not promised, and neither is a fixed number of days. The strategies need gold to move: in quiet months they trade less and pass slower, and a run of losing trades is normal. The guard keeps the robot inside the limits; an account can still end at a loss limit rather than at the target. A price gap or a news release can fill a stop beyond its level. Firms change their rules; compare the profile with your firm's current rules. The strategies were chosen on 2026 prices, so these two runs show how they traded the year they were chosen on; they are not a forecast. In Own account and Funded account mode a smaller account skips the trades whose 0.01-lot minimum would risk more than 0.35 %. The result of any run depends on its period, broker data, balance and leverage; run your own backtest on your own broker's data before trading. Backtest results are hypothetical; past performance does not indicate future results.

Requirements

cTrader 5.10 or newer is recommended. Gold only: one instance on your broker's XAUUSD chart, in your broker's spelling (XAUUSD, XAUUSD.i and similar); on any other chart it refuses to start and says why. Hedging accounts only: each strategy holds its own position on gold, and a netting account would merge them into one, so on a netting account the cBot refuses to start and says why. No news filter: it does not read the economic calendar. The chart timeframe does not matter: it loads its own history at start and builds its own 15-minute, 30-minute and four-hour bars. Recommended from 10,000 USD; in Own account and Funded account mode a smaller account skips some trades unless you set your own Risk per trade. It declares no access rights at all. 14 parameters, every one documented, with a prop-firm guide and the firm rules phase by phase. Keep the platform running or use a VPS: stopping the instance closes nothing, and a restarted instance takes over its open trades and pending orders.
