Ember Fuse for cTrader: gold series on a SuperTrend flip

It computes its own SuperTrend from the last 500 closed one-hour bars of gold and waits for the trend to turn. A flip from down to up starts a buy series, a flip from up to down a sell series. While the price moves against a series, a grid of up to 8 positions is added, each 1.5 times the one before, and the whole side closes together when the price is 300 points beyond its average entry. New positions open only from 05:00 to 10:59 on the broker clock, and a dashboard on the chart shows every step.

What it does

Ember Fuse trades gold on the one-hour chart. It keeps its own SuperTrend: ATR bands of period 44 with a multiplier of 2.5 around a 10-bar mid price, recomputed over the last 500 closed one-hour bars. When the direction of the closed bars flips from down to up it starts a buy series, and a flip from up to down starts a sell series; the signal stays valid for the whole hour after the flip. The first position is 0.02 lot. New positions, first and grid alike, open only from 05:00 to 10:59 on the clock most gold brokers quote in (UTC+2, UTC+3 while New York is on daylight time): the end of the Asian session and the London open. A buy series and a sell series may run at the same time on a hedging account.

While the price moves against a series, a new position opens each time it is 250 points (2.50 on a two-decimal gold quote) beyond the series' most extreme entry; the 7th position needs 240 points and the 8th 288. Each grid position is 1.5 times the previous one, rounded to the lot step: 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.08, 0.12, 0.18, 0.27 and 0.41 lot, 1.16 lots for a full series. At most 8 positions are open at once, buys and sells together. The whole series closes when the price is 300 points beyond its lot-weighted average entry; the cBot watches that target on every tick rather than placing it at the broker. With the news filter on, nothing new opens from 15 minutes before to 30 minutes after high- and medium-impact events, read from a public economic calendar through cTrader's own networking service on a live chart, and the next events are listed with a countdown under the dashboard.

The published backtest

The figures on this page are cTrader's own backtest report of the shipped configuration (Gold H1 Early Session), run by cTrader's backtester on IC Markets real tick data, XAUUSD H1, 10,000 USD, leverage 1:100, commission 27.5 USD per million, 1 January 2026 to 30 September 2026, the shipped configuration. Every number is read from the run's own report file: net profit 7,170.20 USD, a return of 71.7 %, profit factor 6.21, 440 trades of which 316 won, a maximum balance drawdown of 0.99 % and a maximum equity drawdown of 8.08 %. The same settings on Blueberry demo real ticks over the same dates, with 10,000 USD at leverage 1:500 and Blueberry's own commission of 3.5 USD per million, gave +86.7 % with a profit factor of 7.38 and a maximum equity drawdown of 15.79 %. The second built-in preset, which adds the pair close and allows up to 10 positions, gave +61.6 % with a profit factor of 6.27 and a maximum equity drawdown of 7.30 % on the IC Markets data. No backtester has a news calendar, so the news filter was off in every run.

What that backtest cannot promise. The shipped configuration was chosen by a parameter search on 2026 gold prices: selected on January to June, filtered on July and August, and September was opened only after the choice was frozen. It has not been shown to hold in other years. February and March brought 61 % of the net profit, and August opened no trade at all. The balance drawdown is small because a losing series is held rather than closed; the equity drawdown is the real exposure, and a move that runs further against a full series than any move in this test did would be closed only by the account's margin. On 4,000 USD the broker's margin refused 4 orders and the results changed. The recommended minimum for the shipped lot, 4,500 USD, is the smallest tested balance that opened exactly the same trades with no margin refusal. Run your own backtest on your own broker's data before trading.

How it was verified

The engine is platform-free C#: it references no cTrader type, so the code that ships can be compiled outside the platform and replayed on the same ticks cTrader's backtester uses. Replayed that way, its trades matched cTrader's own backtest of the published run trade by trade, to the cent, with zero mismatches. The published figures are cTrader's own, not the replay's.

The presets

Both configurations are built into the cBot and chosen with the first parameter. Gold H1 Early Session is the shipped panel and the published backtest. Gold H1 Early Session + pair close uses the same entries and adds a pair close that takes the most and the least profitable position of a long series off together, up to 10 positions and wider grid steps; it has no stop either. Custom keeps whatever the panel shows. A preset changes only the trading settings: the Magic number, the dashboard and the news settings stay yours, so two instances can run one preset side by side. Gold quotes with two or three decimals are handled automatically, and there is no file to download, find or import after the purchase.

Requirements

cTrader Desktop 5.x on Windows or Mac, or cTrader Web, on a hedging account; XAUUSD or your broker's spelling of it, on the H1 chart. The recommended minimum balance is 4,500 USD for the shipped 0.02 lot. 74 parameters, every one documented. It declares no access rights at all; the news calendar is read through cTrader's own networking service, which is why it needs none. Keep the platform running, or use a VPS: the series target is applied by the cBot itself.

Support

Through the Discussion tab of the Store listing, so the conversation stays next to the product. Please include your broker, cTrader version, your parameter values and the instance log.

This is trading software that places and closes orders on the account it runs on. As shipped no position carries a stop-loss and a series has no stop: a series that goes against it adds positions up to 8, each larger than the one before, and is held until the price comes back to its target. A continuing move grows the open loss faster with every position. The configuration was chosen on 2026 data only. Backtest results are hypothetical; past performance does not indicate future results. Trading leveraged products involves risk of loss.
